It’s such a nice break from the traditional “apples and cinnamon” or “pumpkin spice” craze. Sparkling and light, it bubbles with fresh pears and juice. My Pear Tree Punch is one of my favorite go-to drink recipes. I have the perfect solution, using my favorite fruit of the season-pears. All of these rich and heavy foods need a refreshing drink to complement them. The hint of salt brings out the sweetness of the grapefruit and pear and the floral notes of the Hendrick’s gin.Move over pumpkin spice, there’s a new drink in town.Īutumn weather calls for soups, stews, casseroles and hearty celebrations. To chase away any remaining bitterness, we added a pinch of salt. We finished the drink by adding in a splash of Cointreau, which brings sweetness and a bright splash of orange flavor. In this case we added in a bit of simple syrup to bring the Pink Pear into balance. Pear nectar can sometimes be a little tart, and with the drink having a quite a bit of tartness from the grapefruit, we needed a little bit of sweetness. Pear nectar is a perfect way to add body to a drink, its thick texture a perfect way to add flavor. With fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit and gin as our starting point, we wanted something that would make the drink smooth and creamy. It seems the combination of the two starring in many cocktails like our Red Hound or the French Tart. We are big fans of the way that a good gin works with grapefruit. We love using fruits that are in season, and with a bounty of beautiful ruby red grapefruit and late fall pears on the shelves of our grocery stores, we knew we had a great starting flavor to work with.
